What Pre-Baiting Changes

Most glue boards rely on placement alone. The board goes along a wall on a mouse runway, and the mouse crosses it by habit. A pre-baited board adds an attractant to the glue surface, which changes two things at the point of use.

It shortens the time to first contact. A mouse investigating a new object along its runway is more likely to step onto a surface that carries a food odor. The effect is strongest in the first few days after placement, when the board is unfamiliar.

It does not replace placement. A pre-baited board in the middle of a room still catches less than an unbaited board along a wall. The attractant draws the mouse to the board, but the mouse has to be moving in that area in the first place. Placement along edges remains the primary factor.

The attractant is a food-based material, not a pheromone and not a toxic bait. It does not target a specific species. It is also not a long-term lure: the odor weakens after the seal is opened, and a board left in place for months is effectively an unbaited board by the end of its service life.

Thick Card and Thin Card

The board is described as thick premium cardboard. The thickness matters for two reasons, and neither is about how well the glue works.

It resists curling. A thin card board absorbs moisture from the floor and from the air, and the edges lift. A lifted edge creates a gap under the glue, and a mouse can cross the board without contacting the surface. A thicker board stays flat on the floor for longer.

It resists drag-off. A captured mouse pulls against the board. A thin board folds or slides; a thick board holds its shape and stays in position. This is not the same as the fold tab on some other boards. It is a property of the card itself.

The thickness does not make the board waterproof. A thick card board on a wet floor will still soften, just more slowly than a thin one. For wash-down areas or damp basements, a plastic tray base is the correct format. This board is for dry indoor positions.

Where the Board Goes

The 33 × 21.5 cm size covers a larger floor area than a compact mouse board. That size suits positions where the runway is wide or where the board must span a gap.

· Kitchens and pantries. Along the base of a cabinet, behind a bin, under a shelf.

· Garages and storage rooms. Along a wall base, beside a door frame, behind stored boxes.

· Basements and attics. On a dry floor along a joist line or a wall edge.

· Bedrooms and closets. Under a bed, along a wardrobe base, behind a shoe rack.

· Laundry rooms. Beside the machine, behind the door, along the skirting.

· Behind appliances and furniture. Under a fridge, behind a sofa, under a desk.

· Near pet food areas. Along the wall behind the bowl, not beside the bowl itself.

The board should lie flat, with the long edge against a wall or a cabinet base. Do not place it on a shelf, on a stack of boxes or on an uneven surface. A board that rocks or tilts gives a mouse a path underneath.

The Attractant and Pets

The attractant is food-based, and that matters in a home with dogs or cats. A pet may investigate the board because of the food odor, not because of the glue.

· Place the board where a pet cannot reach it. Behind furniture, under a low cabinet or inside a closed room. A board on an open kitchen floor is reachable by a cat or a small dog.

· Do not place the board beside a pet food bowl. The attractant and the pet food compete for the animal’s attention, and a pet investigating the bowl may step on the board.

· Adhesive on fur. The glue is difficult to remove from fur and usually requires oil or a specialist remover. A board that a pet touches is a cleanup problem, not a poisoning risk, but it is still a problem.

· Children. The board is not a toy and the attractant is not a food. Place it where a crawling child cannot reach it, and dispose of packaging immediately.

Service Life and Replacement

The board is pre-baited and ready to use. Once the seal is opened, the clock starts on both the attractant and the adhesive.

· Attractant fade. The food odor weakens after the seal is broken. In a warm room it fades faster than in a cool one.

· Dust. A visible film on the glue reduces tack before the board is full.

· Moisture. The card base softens and curls at the edges, lifting the glue off the floor.

· Saturation. A board covered in insects or debris cannot catch more.

Check the board daily in an active infestation and at least weekly in a maintenance placement. Replace it when the surface is covered, when the glue no longer feels tacky through a gloved finger, or when the card has softened. In a long-term placement, a fixed replacement interval is more reliable than a visual check, because a board can look clean and still have lost tack.

Retail Box and Carton

The retail box is the part of this product that a distributor buys and a consumer sees. Three things matter at that stage.

Pack count. Single, twin, family and six-pack boxes suit different shelf positions and price points. The count should be confirmed on the purchase order, because the carton configuration depends on it.

Printed instructions. The box carries placement and disposal instructions. In a market where the buyer is a household consumer rather than a pest control professional, the printed instructions are the main source of safe-use information. Multi-language text can be printed for export markets.

Carton cube. The 0.035 CBM carton is sized for mixed pallet loads and for marketplace inbound requirements. Distributors who ship to e-commerce fulfillment centers should confirm the carton dimensions against the fulfillment center’s requirements before ordering.

Brand and Label Note

The product is supplied under the GOLDEN-CAT brand. Some catalogue versions list JM as the brand on the specification table. JM is a separate label used in certain markets. The two names cannot appear on the same retail box without a clear label agreement, so the brand should be confirmed on the artwork before printing.

Private label orders can carry the buyer’s own brand, with custom box design, board size and pack count. The attractant and adhesive composition statements remain the same regardless of the label on the box.

Buyer Questions

Is the brand GOLDEN-CAT or JM?
The product is supplied under GOLDEN-CAT. JM is a separate label used in some markets. Confirm the brand on the box artwork before printing, because the two names cannot appear on the same pack without a label agreement.

Does the pre-baited attractant mean I can place the board anywhere?
No. The attractant draws a mouse to the board once the mouse is moving in that area. Placement along a wall or a cabinet base remains the primary factor. A pre-baited board in the middle of a room catches less than an unbaited board on a runway.

How long does the attractant last after the box is opened?
The food odor weakens once the seal is broken, faster in a warm room than in a cool one. The board is most effective in the first weeks after opening. A board left in place for months is effectively unbaited by the end of its service life, so replace it on a fixed interval rather than relying on the initial attractant.

Can the board be used around a dog or a cat?
Place it where the pet cannot reach it. The attractant is food-based, and a pet may investigate the board because of the odor. The glue is difficult to remove from fur. The board is not a poisoning risk, but a pet that touches it is a cleanup problem.

Is the thick card board waterproof?
No. It resists curling better than a thin board, but it still softens on a wet floor. For damp basements or wash-down areas, a plastic tray base is the correct format.

Can the board catch a rat?
It is sized for mice and small rats. A large rat may pull free. For heavy rat pressure, use a larger board, a snap trap or a baiting program. The board is best used as part of a mixed program.

Is RoHS applicable to this product?
No. RoHS applies to electrical and electronic equipment. This product is card, adhesive, attractant and release paper. An adhesive composition statement and an attractant composition statement are the relevant documents.

Can the board be used in a food area?
It can be placed in a kitchen or a pantry, but not on an open food-contact surface or directly over food. In a commercial food area, place it inside a covered station or in a hidden position, and remove it from the production area before disposal.
