GOLDEN-CAT Brodifacoum Rodenticide is produced by Dalian Golden-Cat Rodenticide Co., Ltd. in Dalian, China, a manufacturer of pest control products since 1984. It is a professional-use anticoagulant bait supplied in wax block and pellet formats to licensed PCOs and facility contractors. It is not an adhesive product like Glue Traps or Mouse Glue Traps, and it is a different active substance from Bromadiolone Rodenticide. Brodifacoum stays in a rodent's body longer than other anticoagulants, which is why it is reserved for tougher cases and why several markets restrict how it can be used.

Both brodifacoum and bromadiolone are second-generation anticoagulants. Both work by interfering with blood clotting. The difference that matters to a buyer is how long the substance stays in the rodent's body.
Brodifacoum stays in the liver far longer than bromadiolone. In practical terms, a rodent that eats a lethal dose carries the active substance for weeks. If another animal, such as a bird of prey or a scavenger, eats that rodent, it receives a second dose. Because brodifacoum clears so slowly, repeated exposures build up.
This is the reason brodifacoum is treated more cautiously than bromadiolone. It is not a first-choice bait for routine maintenance. It is used where another anticoagulant has failed, where resistance is confirmed, or where the infestation is severe enough that a faster and stronger active is needed. Where Bromadiolone Rodenticide will do the job, it carries a lower risk to non-target animals.
Brodifacoum is one of the few anticoagulants against which resistance has not yet been widely detected in house mice and brown rats. That does not mean it should be used every time.
Switching between brodifacoum and bromadiolone is not true rotation, because both work the same way. A program that alternates between them is still using the same mode of action. A more useful approach is to use brodifacoum only where the resistance profile or the infestation severity justifies it, record the active substance at each bait point, and use physical methods such as Mouse Glue Traps at fixed points where the label and the site allow.
Brodifacoum is supplied as a wax block or a pellet. The format follows the position, not the active substance.
A wax block suits a drain, a sewer chamber, a wash-down area or any position where moisture is present. It is secured on a rod inside a tamper-resistant station and inspected weekly. A pellet suits a dry indoor position, a burrow opening or a bait tray, and is more readily consumed than a dense block. Neither format should be broadcast on open ground, and neither should be left in place after the program ends.
The usual sequence is to confirm activity with a monitoring tool such as a Glue Traps board, place bait only where activity is confirmed, inspect weekly, and remove uneaten bait when the program is complete. A baiting program without monitoring cannot tell whether the bait is being eaten, ignored or avoided.
Is Brodifacoum Rodenticide the same as Bromadiolone Rodenticide?
No. Both are second-generation anticoagulants under Rodenticide and Rodent Bait, but brodifacoum stays in the rodent's body much longer. That means a wider secondary exposure window and tighter restrictions. Brodifacoum is for confirmed resistance or severe infestation. Bromadiolone is often the first choice where the profile permits.
Is permanent baiting with brodifacoum still allowed in the EU?
It varies by member state. Several countries have stopped approving permanent baiting, and use is now tied to an actual infestation or a confirmed suspicion. Confirm the national authorisation for the specific product and the intended use before ordering.
What does a UK buyer need to show to purchase this product?
From 1 January 2026, a CRRU-approved training certificate dated within the last five years, or an older certificate plus membership of a stewardship CPD scheme. Red Tractor or another farm assurance membership is not sufficient. The supplier checks certification at the point of sale.
Can brodifacoum be used outdoors?
In the UK, open-area use has been prohibited since January 2025. Bait must be directly connected to a building or structure. In the EU, most member states restrict placement to indoor or structure-adjacent positions. A sheltered position under a roof is not the same as open-field broadcasting, but the label and national rules should be confirmed before any outdoor placement.
Why is brodifacoum not the first choice for a routine warehouse?
Because it stays in the food chain longer. Where another anticoagulant will control the infestation, the lower-persistence option should be used first. Brodifacoum is for the cases where that option has failed or is expected to fail.
How does a glue trap relate to a brodifacoum program?
A Mouse Glue Traps board or a flat Glue Traps board is a monitoring and intercept tool. It shows where activity is happening and whether baiting has reduced it. It contains no active ingredient and carries no secondary exposure or resistance risk. A program usually monitors with boards, baits only the confirmed harbourage, and keeps monitoring to check the result.
