Extruded Brodifacoum Wax Block Rodenticide Bait

GOLDEN-CAT Extruded Brodifacoum Wax Block Rodenticide Bait is a professional-grade second-generation anticoagulant rodenticide formulated for severe rodent infestations in commercial, industrial and institutional environments. Manufactured using advanced extrusion technology, this wax block features a dense, uniform texture with grooved surfaces that maximize rodent gnawing activity. The premium brodifacoum active ingredient embedded in a weather-resistant wax matrix provides highly effective control of Norway rats, roof rats and house mice — including strains resistant to first-generation anticoagulants.

⚠️ IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE: This product contains brodifacoum, a highly potent second-generation anticoagulant rodenticide. It is for professional use only. Place only in tamper-resistant bait stations. Brodifacoum is toxic to aquatic life with long-lasting effects and carries a secondary poisoning risk to predators and scavengers that consume exposed rodents. Many jurisdictions restrict brodifacoum to indoor use or to situations where resistance to other anticoagulants has been confirmed. The label for the batch supplied governs permitted use sites.

GOLDEN-CAT Extruded Brodifacoum Wax Block Rodenticide Bait is a ready-to-use paraffin wax block with a grooved surface, manufactured by high-pressure extrusion. It is placed in tamper-resistant bait stations for control of Norway rat, roof rat and house mouse.

Brodifacoum is not a default choice among anticoagulants. It is the most potent of the commonly registered second-generation compounds and it persists in animal tissue far longer than bromadiolone or difenacoum. That combination makes it effective against populations that have developed reduced susceptibility, and it makes residue management more demanding than for any other anticoagulant bait in common professional use.

Product Identity and Active Ingredient

Brand GOLDEN-CAT
Product name Extruded Brodifacoum Wax Block Rodenticide Bait
Active ingredient Brodifacoum 0.005% w/w (50 ppm) standard; other concentrations by market requirement
CAS number 56073-10-0
Mode of action Second-generation anticoagulant, vitamin K antagonist
Formulation High-pressure extruded wax block with grooved surface
Bittering agent Denatonium benzoate where required by destination market

Brodifacoum has a longer biological half-life than bromadiolone and is typically reserved for severe infestations, confirmed anticoagulant resistance, or programs where a single-feed active is specified by the supervising PCO. Rotation between actives remains a standard resistance management practice; this block should not be the only anticoagulant used continuously at the same site.

What High-Pressure Extrusion Changes

Molded wax blocks are poured or pressed into a shape. Extruded blocks are forced through a die under high pressure, which compacts the wax and cereal matrix more tightly and produces a more uniform density across the block.

The practical consequences for a professional program are narrower than marketing language usually suggests, but they are real:

· Density and break resistance. Extruded blocks resist crumbling during carton handling, transport and bait station loading. Fewer broken blocks means more accurate bait-point counting and less waste.

· Weight consistency. Extrusion holds block weight within a tighter tolerance than low-pressure molding, which matters when a program budgets bait by gram per point.

· Grooved surface. The grooves are not decorative. They create edges that give rodents a starting point for gnawing, and they increase the surface area exposed to the animal. On dense blocks this is more relevant than on soft blocks, because a hard smooth surface can slow the first bite.

· Moisture behavior. A denser matrix absorbs less water at cut edges and in damp stations. This is the basis for outdoor and semi-outdoor use, not an absolute waterproof claim.

Placement Profile

Extruded blocks are specified when the bait point is exposed to moisture, physical disturbance or long service intervals between PCO visits. The 50 g format is mainly used where a single station must hold enough bait for a heavy infestation or a remote site that is checked less frequently.

Typical professional placements:

· Outdoor perimeter and building edges, loading docks, fence lines, waste storage areas

· Sewer chambers and drainage galleries where blocks are fixed on station rods

· Food processing plants, mills and grain stores, strictly per label instructions

· Warehouses, factories, power stations and utility substations

· Damp basements, crawl spaces and irrigation pump houses

· Agricultural buildings, livestock facilities and feed storage areas

On bait point density, published municipal protocols for anticoagulant wax bait in China commonly use 10–20 g per indoor point with points spaced at roughly 15 m² intervals; outdoor perimeter points are typically 5–7 m apart. Where a 50 g block is used, the point count is usually reduced rather than the gram-per-point increased. These are operational references only; the destination label and the PCO’s site assessment take precedence.

Handling and Compliance

Who may apply it. Licensed pest control operators, trained professional users with demonstrated competence, and facility pest management teams working under a licensed supervisor. Consumer sale is not permitted.

Bait station requirement. Use inside tamper-resistant stations wherever required by local regulation. Fix the block on the station rod or clip where one is fitted, so it cannot be dragged out.

PPE. Waterproof gloves, long sleeves, long trousers, shoes and socks at minimum. Wash hands and exposed skin after handling and before eating, drinking or smoking.

Records. Keep application records: date, location, number of blocks placed, blocks consumed or removed, and any non-target sightings or dead rodent recovery.

Resistance management. Do not run brodifacoum continuously at the same site. Alternate with a different active or a non-anticoagulant method according to the resistance profile of the local rodent population.

Storage and disposal. Store locked, away from food, feed and water. Dispose of unused bait and containers through an approved hazardous waste route or according to local requirements.

Safety Summary

Signal word Danger / Warning depending on destination label
Hazard statements Toxic if swallowed; very toxic to aquatic life with long-lasting effects; causes skin and eye irritation; may cause respiratory irritation
First aid, swallowed Call a poison center or physician immediately. Do not induce vomiting unless instructed.
First aid, skin Remove contaminated clothing. Wash with plenty of soap and water.
First aid, eyes Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses if easy to do and continue rinsing.
Environmental Do not release to drains, watercourses or soil. Collect and dispose of spilled blocks.

A full Safety Data Sheet ships with each order and should be read before handling. Anticoagulant poisoning may be delayed; medical assessment is required even if the exposed person feels well initially.

Technical Questions Buyers Ask

Is this bromadiolone or brodifacoum?
Brodifacoum 0.005% w/w. Bromadiolone is a separate GOLDEN-CAT formulation in a different block format. The two actives should not be described interchangeably in purchase orders, labels or import filings.

When would a PCO choose brodifacoum over bromadiolone?
Brodifacoum is usually chosen for severe infestations, confirmed resistance to first-generation actives or to bromadiolone, or programs where the label permits a single-feed approach. It is not a default first choice for routine maintenance baiting, because the longer half-life increases non-target risk and limits how often it can be rotated.

Does extrusion actually change field performance, or is it a manufacturing detail?
The main field effects are handling and durability: less breakage in transit, more consistent block weight, and slower moisture uptake at the surface. Bait acceptance still depends on the matrix and the local rodent population. Extrusion does not make a poorly accepted bait attractive.

Why offer a 50 g block?
For heavy infestations, remote stations and long service intervals, a larger block reduces refill frequency and the chance of a station running empty between visits. It requires a larger bait station and is not a substitute for correct point density.

What documents ship with an order?
SDS, COA, label text and export documentation. Import registration in the destination country remains the buyer’s responsibility.

Is the 3-month shelf life figure sometimes quoted for pest control products applicable here?
No. Sealed brodifacoum wax blocks carry a 24-month shelf life under cool, dry storage. The 3-month figure generally refers to adhesive trap products, not sealed rodenticide blocks.
