Pantry Moth Glue Trap

GOLDEN-CAT Pantry Moth Glue Trap is a professional stored product pest monitoring and control solution designed to target Indian meal moths, Mediterranean flour moths, almond moths and other common pantry moth species. Featuring a triangular tent design with premium pheromone lure and high-tack adhesive inside, this trap effectively attracts and captures adult male moths, breaking the breeding cycle and protecting stored food products from infestation. The discreet design blends naturally in pantries, kitchens and storage areas.

In a barn, a stockroom or a waste room, flies usually gather at beam height rather than at floor level. This Pantry Moth Glue Trap is designed to hang in that zone, coated on both faces with pressure-sensitive adhesive and supplied in a cardboard tube. It is made by Dalian Golden-Cat Rodenticide Co., Ltd. and supplied to agricultural distributors, facility suppliers, retail buyers and OEM customers. Length, width, adhesive weight and tube print can be specified before production. Product images, an adhesive composition statement and sample ribbons are available on request.

Why Hanging Instead of a Flat Board

House flies and blow flies tend to rest on overhead structures, beams, wires and the upper part of walls. A flat board on a counter or shelf catches the insects that happen to land on it. A ribbon hung in the flight zone intercepts them where they already move.

The second reason is space. A ribbon takes no floor area, no shelf space and no counter space. In a barn, a stockroom, a waste room or a kitchen back corridor, floor and shelf space is already committed. A ribbon hangs from a beam or a ceiling hook and occupies nothing that another function needs.

The third reason is adhesive capacity. The ribbon is narrow but long, and both faces carry glue. A 60 cm ribbon exposes a larger total adhesive area than a small flat board of similar width. That matters in a space with a heavy fly load, where a small board saturates within days.

What It Catches, and What It Does Not

The Pantry Moth Glue Trap is a general flying-insect intercept. It catches house flies, blow flies, flesh flies, fruit flies, fungus gnats, small moths and similar insects that blunder into the adhesive.

It is not species-specific. It does not use a pheromone lure, so it does not target one moth species over another. Where a specific stored product moth needs to be monitored, a pheromone trap with the matching lure is the correct tool. Where the problem is a general fly population in a barn or a waste room, the ribbon is a low-cost intercept.

It also catches insects that were not the target, including ladybirds, hoverflies and parasitic wasps. In a barn or a waste room this is usually incidental, but it should be checked at replacement. In a greenhouse or beside flowering crops, a ribbon is the wrong tool for that reason.

Placement Parameters

· Height. Hang the ribbon 1.5 to 2.5 m above floor level, in the zone where flies are already moving. In a barn with livestock, the flight zone is often lower than in a warehouse aisle.

· Spacing. For routine use, one ribbon per 10 to 15 m² in the active area, and 2 to 3 m between ribbons. Increase density near the source, such as a waste bin, a drain, a loading door or a livestock pen.

· Away from food and preparation surfaces. Do not hang a ribbon directly over open food, a prep counter or a dining table. A ribbon that swings or falls into food is a contamination incident.

· Away from strong air currents. A ribbon in front of a fan or an open loading door will swing and may catch fewer flies, because the insects are moving with the air rather than hovering around the ribbon.

· Not in direct sunlight or rain. The ribbon is intended for indoor and covered areas. Direct sun softens the adhesive and rain destroys the paper base. A sheltered outdoor position under an eave can work, but the field life is shorter.

Why a Ribbon Stops Catching

A ribbon that is no longer catching is not evidence that the fly population has gone. Four conditions account for most cases.

· Dust. A visible dust film reduces tack before the ribbon is full. In a barn, a feed store or a dusty warehouse, expect 4 to 6 weeks rather than 12.

· Heat. High temperature softens the adhesive and lets larger insects pull free. In an unventilated roof space in summer, effective life is shorter.

· Air movement. A ribbon that swings constantly in a draught presents a moving surface and catches less than one hanging still. Move it out of the draught before replacing it.

· Saturation. Once the surface is covered, the ribbon cannot catch more. A full ribbon left hanging is a false signal that the problem has stopped.

Replace when the ribbon is visibly loaded, when a gloved finger leaves no tack mark on the surface, or at the end of the label-specified period, whichever comes first.

Hanging Limits

The Pantry Moth Glue Trap contains no pesticide active ingredient. Capture is mechanical. That does not make it appropriate to hang anywhere.

In a food store, a kitchen or a food processing area, the ribbon should be placed so that it cannot fall into open product or onto a food-contact surface. Used ribbons should be removed from the production area before disposal. A ribbon hanging over a prep counter is a contamination risk even though the adhesive is not toxic.

In a barn, a stable or a poultry house, hang the ribbon above the reach of livestock. Cattle and horses can reach a ribbon hung at head height and may chew or become entangled in it. The adhesive is not a pesticide, but a stuck animal is a welfare and handling problem.

In a home or a retail stockroom, hang out of the reach of children and pets. The adhesive is difficult to remove from fur or hair.

Cardboard Tube Format

The cardboard tube is the standard retail format for this product and has been for decades. It protects the ribbon before use and gives the shelf a recognizable shape.

· 4 pieces per tube, with a hang hole for pegboard display.

· Tube length matches the ribbon length; 60 cm and 80 cm tubes are standard.

· Multilingual label text can be printed on the tube for EU, North American and Latin American markets.

· Carton configuration can be adjusted for e-commerce and marketplace prep.

· Product images and label artwork can be supplied to distributors for their own listings.

Buyer Questions

Is this the same product as a pantry moth trap?
No. A pantry moth trap uses a species-specific pheromone lure and is designed to monitor Indian meal moth and related stored product moths. This ribbon is a general flying-insect intercept with no lure. It will catch some moths, but it will not tell you which species is present or where it is breeding.

Does the yellow color attract flies, or is the glue the only mechanism?
Both. Yellow is visible to flies and other insects at a distance, and the adhesive captures them on contact. The color increases the chance that an insect approaches the ribbon. The glue does the capture.

Why does the ribbon catch fewer flies after a few weeks even though it is not full?
Check the surface for a dust film, heat softening or constant swinging before assuming the fly population has dropped. Each of these reduces capture before the ribbon is saturated. Replace it, keep the position unchanged, and compare the next week before changing anything else.

Can the ribbon be used outdoors?
In a sheltered position under an eave or a roof overhang, yes, with a shorter field life. Direct rain destroys the paper base and direct sun softens the adhesive. It is not designed for open outdoor use.

What happens if a bird or a bat touches the ribbon?
The adhesive is not a pesticide, but it is difficult to remove from feathers or fur. In a barn or a warehouse with resident birds or bats, hang ribbons away from roosting and flight paths, and check them at replacement. A stuck animal should be released carefully and the ribbon removed.

Is RoHS relevant to this product?
No. RoHS applies to electrical and electronic equipment. This ribbon is paper and adhesive. A composition statement for the adhesive and the paper base can be supplied instead.
